Google Maps is a great resource to get to those hard to reach places. The Street View feature is a definite cool advantage that pushes Google Maps to the top. But every once in a while some amazing and hilarious shots are captured on camera. Here is a view of Lincoln Tunnel entrance next to New York City. Link is provided below picture.

Do you congratulate yourself for doing something good? You should. If someone working for you did something innovative or new you would compliment him. In fact this is what makes some managers great and others tyrants. Don’t be a bad manager to yourself. Celebrate your achievements and criticize your mistakes. But moderation in both cases is important. Treat yourself just as you would treat a colleague or someone you supervise.

It is very easy to congratulate yourself. After all you already know all your great abilities and successes. In fact you might already be overly proud of your work. It is also easy to reward yourself since you already what you like or dislike. I already know that a steak dinner or movie and popcorn would be perfect for me. But don’t go overboard. If you want to congratulate yourself for gaining 1000 RSS subscribers then don’t buy a new house. Moderation is essential.

We are all harsh critics of ourselves. We push everything to the limit and say to ourselves we need this to succeed. When something fails we blame the equipment, the computer, the network or other people. But in our hearts we know it is our own fault. During these times try not to judge and criticize yourself. Instead focus on what you can do to prevent this failure in the future. And remember to learn something new from each experience and congratulate yourself. Why? Because you have learnt something new from your failure.

April 27th, 2008How Do You Code HTML Links?

Linking lies at the heart of the internet. Every page points to other pages or websites and resources via html links. So how do various people promote the websites that they find interesting.

http-www

  • Bloggers link to other pages very consciously and using as many options available to them. That’s why bloggers’ links use attributes of title, target, rel and whatever else they can find.
  • News media link with just a href. They do not have the time, patience or need to use titles or set target to open in a new window or tab. Most of the time they do warn you that they are not responsible for websites that they are linking to.
  • Internet marketers who practice spamming the internet with infinitely long sales pages (also known as landing pages) do not link to anything at all. No wait. They do link to another page on the same site - the Buy It Now page.
  • Uber geeks and Seth Godin link by posting it on their Twitter feed.
  • Infants link by making secretive sounds of Goo Goo Gaga. They also give out mini surprises inside their diapers.
  • Teenagers exclusively link to YouTube videos, Myspace profiles and funny images from CollegeHumor.com
  • Old people (pre-internet generation) link by Telling others what they find interesting. Spoken word replaces IP packets in this scenario.
