Blog posts can often be long and without pictures or animations the reader feels daunted and loses interest. But royalty free pictures that you can use freely everywhere can be hard to come by. Specially if you are looking for the perfect picture which will add value to your post. Here is a list of the top 10 sites which offer royalty free pictures. You can use these images on your computer as a wallpaper, inside an application or logo. You can also use these images on your website for banners, logos, favicons etc. Note that individual file licenses might have some restrictions, read them carefully before using them.
1. Getty Images has a very large collection of images nicely indexed and instantly available via search.
2. Creative Commons Search allows you to search all Flickr pictures for images you can use for commercial purposes and works you can modify, adapt, or build upon.
3. Stock.XCHNG is one of the best royalty free pictures with a large collection of images submitted by users. Register for a free account and download as many pictures as your wish.
4. Corbis is another site offering royalty free pictures categorized into Rights Managed, Royalty-Free, Photography, Illustration, Color, Black & White, Only Model-Released, Only Images on CD (RF), Collections Search (Turn On)
5. Free Digital Photos offers tons of pictures of nature, people, places and everyday items.
6. Jupiter Images offers a large collection of royalty free and rights-managed images.
7. Matton provides high quality professionally taken pictures which are of course royalty free.
8. Alamy offers 10.5million pictures for quick search with the ability to restrict the search to royalty free images only.
9. Public Domain Pictures provides free pictures for personal and commercial use. But the quality can be inferior to some of the other sites on some pictures.
10. Inmagine provides the ability to search several free image sites at once.
