08_NokiaN96_lowresNokia N96, the next generation of N95, has arrived. Boasting a wide array of features and audio and video goodness this gadget is worth drooling over. I am sure many geeks, gadget lovers and technology aware consumers would do just that. The N96 belongs to the Nokia N-Series which includes other gems such as the N78 Multimedia Phone and N810 Internet Tablet. N96 is another gem that Nokia has added to this lineup.

According to Jonas Geust, who oversees Nokia’s Explore category “Through the power of the Internet, video and TV are becoming even more prevalent in people’s lives. With its large, bright screen, and a range of high-speed connectivity options and the enhanced Nokia Video Center, the new Nokia N96 is a personal window to entertainment.”

Specifications of N96 include everything under the sun. Operating on WCDMA2100/900 (HSDPA) / EGSM900, GSM frequencies the N96 would operate on most US cell phone carriers. Automatic switching between bands and modes is another feature designed to make lives easier. Storage space is one area where no users would complain, at least for a while. Why you ask? 16GB internal flash memory, plus microSD memory card slot (hot swappable) for expandability and flexibility would be enough for any storage junkie. But storing all that data and playing video and audio content on your phone can be quite a drain on the battery life. This is where 5 hour video playback and 14 hour music playback would be an asset. You can watch the videos on 2.8” QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) LCD TFT display. You can also take pictures to your hearts content with the built in 5MP camera. Full list of features can be found on the Nokia site.
