Google owned Blogspot has launched a slideshow service displaying the recently uploaded pictures to its Blogger blogs. In case you didn’t know Blogger is Google’s free hosted blogging platform. When you decide to create a new blog, Blogspot will create a new subdomain with blogspot.com at the end. With this blogging service you can upload pictures to use with your posts. Now Blogger Play takes those newly uploaded pictures and creates a web-based slideshow which plays continuously. Blogger help pages officially describes the web-application as ” Blogger Play is a real-time slideshow of photos Blogger users have recently uploaded to their blogs. It’s a great snapshot of what people are thinking and posting about, right now!”

As Easy As It Gets

Blogger Play doesn’t have a learning curve. Google engineers have really created a simple system designed exactly what it is supposed to do. Blogger Play starts playing the slideshow as soon as you go to the website. It has a few controls at the bottom – pause, back and next. The controls also allow you to control the speed of the slideshow. For quicker control use the keyboard shortcuts by using spacebar for pausing, right arrow for next picture and left arrow for going to previous picture.

Blogger Play vs. Flickr Slideshow

Blogger Play has a similar counterpart. Flickr Slideshow creates an online slideshow of a group of pictures that the user defines. Flickr launched their version last May and it has seen widespread application. Blogger Play and Slideshow have similar front-end and controls. But the systems are inherently different. Unlike Flickr Slideshow, Blogger has not implemented the features to embed Blogger Play into webpages. Although you can embed the Blogger Play application to your iGoogle homepage. This way you can watch the latest and greatest LOL cats pictures streaming past your computer screen.
