Searchme Innovates Visual Search

Has Google met its match? Not quite yet. But new startup searchme has an intriguing new way of delivering search results. With searchme you do not have to click on a search result to get to the content. Instead the search result pages are shown to you directly following a query. Thus you are one step closer to the results in a pleasing visual form.
Searchme vs Google
Only the user searching on the internet knows what he is interested in. Google search engine servers up a snippet of text extracted from the webpage right below the results. That snippet is what Google thinks best describes that webpage. But ultimately it a search engine guessing what is relevant and limiting it to about 2 lines. Searchme, on the other hand, shows you the whole page as a single image. The other search results are lined up behind the primary result. You can scroll to the next result and see how it looks like before you visit the webpage. Thus the user gets access to exactly the information that they want.
Another useful feature of Searchme is the auto categories that pop up as soon as you type a query. For example if you typed in the query for java you might be thinking of coffee, a geographic location or even web programming language. To narrow the possible results Searchme pops up categories. The sample screenshot shows the categories that come up when you try to search for “safari”. Jump to Searchme press pages to see several more screenshots.
Are Text Results Going Away?
Years of habit do not change easily and most users are accustomed to text results (thanks to Google, Yahoo, Ask, MSN etc). Instead of alienating these users Searchme gives you the option to see the results in text form as well. The text results are only one scrollbar away and the user can resize the amount of screen real-estate dedicated to visual or textual results.
