Yahoo Messenger Now Comes With Embedded Video

Mar 21st, 2008 | By Shamim | Category: Applications, FREE, Yahoo!

Embedding videos to a blog or website is one of the most prolific activities of the Web 2.0 era. Videos make the blog more interactive and increase the time a visitor spends on a website. These benefits and more have seen the rise of internet-video giants such as YouTube and Yahoo! Video which is quickly rising in the ranks. But till now if you wanted to quickly share a video with a friend over instant message you had to send them the URL. The receiving party would then have to open the link and watch the video with you. Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 is changing that. A new feature in the Y! Messenger 9.0 Beta enables you to share and basically “embed” the video directly within an instant messaging window. Currently this feature is available in the beta release of the Yahoo Messenger and works with YouTube and Yahoo Video.

Features & Benefits

The obvious benefit is that you don’t have to jump back and forth between the window showing the video and your conversation. Another benefit of this feature is that you can scroll the video with your friend. Previously, if you were only interested in a specific portion of the video then you had to tell your friend to scroll to the specific time. For example, in a 15minutes long video something interesting might happen at exactly 7minute and 40second. Then you had to find out the time and then tell your messaging buddy. Now you can simply scroll through and show any exciting parts inside the messaging window. If you send and receive videos with your friends a lot then try out this feature and save time and effort.
