How long do you wait for your favorite beverage at Starbucks? I never seemed to notice the wait till Apple came along and filed its brand new patent this month. Apple now wants to eliminate the need to wait in long lines for your iced mocha or green tea. According to the new patent at US Patent and Trademark Office you will be able to place your order wirelessly with your iPhone while you pass by any participating Starbucks. Then you can wait outside and soak up the sun. When your beverage is ready to go you will receive some notification and you can enjoy caffeine goodness a few minutes sooner.

From Forbes … Apple’s application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office describes a process for placing an order and then notifying customers when an order is ready to grab at a pick-up station. One goal, the patent application notes, is to avoid an “annoying wait in a long queue if the purchaser arrives before completion of the order.”

The end of 2007 is coming fast and gadget lovers are looking forward to the new gadgets about to be released in the new year. But the end of the year is also important for another reason. This is the time for the Top Items of 2007 List. Here are the top gadgets of 2007 according to Wired magazine.

9. Coming in at number 9 is HP Blackbird desktop which has helped HP hit the gaming market at full speed. It is one of the most impressive desktop gaming rigs that I have seen released this year and its impressive specs are expected to get bigger and better in the coming year.

7. Amazon Kindle the hand-held e-reader has also made it on the list. This is mostly because is one of the best-sellers on Amazon this holiday season.

6. Asus EEE PC, at number 7 of the top 10 gadgets of 2007, is a power packed ultra-portable PC.

5. Nokia N810 Internet Tablet is a personal dedicated gadget for internet browsing. Built on Debian linux distribution there are a lot of hacks for this gadget adding functionality one line of code at a time.

4. Olevia 747i is a 47 inch TV which is a welcome addition to the list. This TV is feature packed with inputs, features and a picture that smokes sets that cost twice as much according to Wired.

3. Archos 705 mp3 player had outperformed the Apple iPod and ended up at number 4 of this year’s top gadgets list.

2. Olympus E510 DSLR camera has been offered at a very attractive price when the competitors (think Nikon). These cameras have made inroads into the semi-professionals market in a very short time.

1. iPhone is the undoubted king of this year’s top gadgets. Ask anyone what is the single gadget that they will remember this year and the unanimous answer will be Apple iPhone.
