The Richter Scales climbed the popularity pole very quickly over the past few days because of their video parody of the most successful and popular websites of today. The video called Here Comes Another Bubble reached viral status and got a little less than 700,000 views on YouTube alone and over 1,200 diggs. But now thanks to Lane Hartwell and her lawyer that video is no longer available on YouTube. She sent a DMCA copyright violation notice to YouTube and when you go to play the video all you get is We’re sorry, this video is no longer available. You can see this in action in a previous TeqEdge blog entry – Tech Bubble 2.0 video. Lane Hartwell is a contributor to Wired and has made allegations before that her work was being used without permission. This time she has gotten her way and forced Richter Scales to take the video down. Michael Arrington from TechCrunch says …
I spoke with a copyright attorney this afternoon … Copyright is a structure around prohibitions, not permissions, he says. That means it lays out rules for things people cannot do with your work - it does not give you the right to demand permission before any use is made.

Yahoo has recently released a Wordpress plugin called Yahoo! Shortcuts which will help bloggers create great content supplemented by contextually relevant links but with very little effort. It requires no technical genius to use this superb utility but it when appropriately used it will help tell your story far more effectively. Jeremy Zawodny of Yahoo! Developer Network writes …
Instead of putting the burden on me, it operates as an assistant in the background, looking for relevant links, images, and other shortcuts. Then, when you’re done writing, you can simply look through what it found and select what you’d like to keep.
What Does Yahoo! Shortcuts Do?
Yahoo! Shortcuts plugin automatically finds links and shows you the total count even before you finish writing your post. After you are done writing the content review which links to keep and which badges to display on your post. You have complete control and nothing appears on your blog page until you specifically put it there. Yahoo! Shortcut makes it quick and easy to integrate yahoo search results, maps, stock prices, locations, products, Flickr pictures which have Creative Commons license and much more. The complete tutorial gives a detailed demo of the plugin. If you are lucky you might even win a free tshirt from Yahoo.
